How do I find an item? |
| |
There are two ways to search
for items at KnowledgeBank: by category and by keyword
or phrase.
Category searches let you find items
of a particular type (encounter forms, reports, letters, etc.)
and lets you narrow that search by medical specialty. For
example, you can search for Encounter item names, text
descriptions, author names, and version information fields.
Keyword or key phrase search allows
you to enter a word or phrase in the search box and
KnowledgeBank will return items which have an exact match. This
search looks for matches from item names, text descriptions,
author names, and version information fields. |
|
How can I see what the item looks like before I
download it? |
| |
All of our item description
pages have a link to screen shots which show the item in use and
highlight important features and functionality. We use
clinically relevant data to create an accurate picture of how
the item can be used. Encounter form details include screen
shots of the resulting text translation as well as a listing of
all Observation Terms used in the form. |
|
What do I do with the items I
download? |
| |
Our items are supplied in a
"zipped" or compressed format and must be "unzipped" prior to
importing into Logician or viewing in the Encounter From Editor
or Crystal Reports. You can use any compression utility (WinZip
or PKZip) to extract, or "unzip" the files to a folder on your
PC. For some items there are many different files and file types
included in the download. Some of the files are used in
Logician, and some are used in the Encounter Form Editor or
Crystal Reports.
After extraction, we recommend that the item
be imported into a training version of Logician. MedicaLogic
thoroughly tests all items prior to posting, but to prevent any
problems with unexpected behavior, we ask that you view and test
the item in a non-production environment before use. |
|
Why should I submit to the
KnowledgeBank? |
| |
Creating new clinical
components to use within Logician, specifically, encounter forms
and reports is a complex and time-consuming process. One of the
best things about the KnowledgeBank is that it has created a
community of users which have found answers to content creation
issues and have agreed to share that expertise with others.
Posting to the KnowledgeBank won't make you
rich or famous but you might have created a Crystal Report which
is exactly what someone else was struggling to build, or you may
help a fellow physician with a difficult MEL expression. If you
have benefited from the KnowledgeBnak content, we ask you to
complete the circle and send in your items for posting. |
