This Dynamic Drop Down List Developers Toolkit was developed by Heidi Loutzenhiser in the Clinical Tools Department at MedicaLogic. The kit contains a sample form component containing a dynamic dropdown list, an educational handout explaining in detail the MEL required to use the Dynamic Drop Down list feature, and a readme.txt file with information on how to get the most from the kit.
The Dynamic Drop Down list is a new feature in Encounter Form Editor 2.4, and can be used in all Logician 5 versions. It allows the form builder to dynamically specify the contents of a drop down list based on user input, patient data, or clinical data. A dynamic dropdown differs from visibility as is confines the user to a single value, rather than allowing them the enter multiple values. The enclosed handout explains clearly the differences between dynamic dropdowns and visibility, and discusses when to use which feature.
