Whats New in Logician 5.6 Clinical Content

Logician 5.6 contains several new clinical content enhancements including new Encounter Forms, updates to existing Encounter Forms, new and updated Data Symbols, updated prescription reports with faxing features and new Visit Manager content. Below is a short list of the new changes coming in Logician 5.6.

• Ability to add an order from an Encounter Form: Logician 5.6 includes a new data symbol, MEL_ADD_ORDER, that allows customers to add tests and services with the necessary information directly from an Encounter Form. The E&M Advisor Encounter Form and the Visit Manager A&P forms have been updated to use this new feature.

• New Orders Data Symbols: Several new data symbols have been added in Logician 5.6 that allow users to view Orders information in any MEL enabled area. In addition, new delimited options for existing orders data symbols have been developed to return a full set of information for each order.

• Enhanced Problem Assessments: Logician 5.6 includes the ability to add a comment with a problem assessment. New data symbols have been created so that assessments and comments can be added directly from an Encounter Form, either with a new problem or for an existing one.

• New Observation Data Symbols: Logician 5.6 now allows users to display an observation term value by individual user or location of care.

• Visit Manager A&P forms: The problem specific Visit Manage Assessment and Plan forms have been updated to allow customers to update the orders module directly from the form. Other enhancements to the Visit Manager A&P form include the ability to now print Spanish handouts directly from the form.

• Prescription Refill Reports: Each of the prescription refill reports has been updated for Logician 5.6 , conforming to the latest state regulations available in 2003. In addition to updated print formats, each report now contains a separate faxing section with specific information necessary to fax a prescription directly from Logician. All prescription reports were re-written for easier editing, allowing customers to add or remove information as necessary, and reports are broken out by state, making finding and editing them easier.

Logician Privacy Kit

The Logician Privacy Kit is a suite of clinical content that allows clinics to document the disclosure of protected health information, and document that signatures have been obtained from patients regarding these disclosures. The Privacy Kit contains 3 encounter forms and 2 patient handouts that will assist a clinic in creating documents in a patients chart detailing the type of information being disclosed, to whom the information was disclosed, and whether signatures were obtained from the patient for these disclosures. The forms populate observation terms created specifically for documenting this information, so that disclosure information can be displayed on the patient banner, on encounter forms or found through a report or inquiry.

• Authorization to Use or Disclose Protected Health Information - This encounter form has fields to document the disclosure of 18 different types of clinical information, including their treatment dates and the name of the Logician user disclosing the information. The Authorization to Use or Disclose Protected Health Information handout is printed directly from the form and contains all of the information filled out on the form by the user. Additional fields are included to capture the purpose of disclosure, the name of the person or organization the information is being disclosed to, the patient signature information and authorization effective dates.

• Patient Consent to Use or Disclose Protected Health Information -This encounter form allows clinics to document that a patient has signed a Patient Consent form, or has refused to sign a Patient Consent form. The Patient Consent to Use or Disclose Protected Health Information handout is printed directly from the form. Fields are included to document signature information, restrictions and the name of the Logician user obtaining the patient signature.

• Acknowledgement of Receipt of Privacy Notice - This encounter form enables a clinic to document that a patient has received a copy of the clinic's privacy notice, and has signed an acknowledgement that they have received the notice. Fields are included to document the Privacy Notice effective date, as well as the name of the Logician user obtaining the patient signature. Clinics are responsible for providing the patient with their own privacy practices informtaion.
